Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday September 28 drew the attention of the State Government to the increase in unemployment in the State and demanded immediate action to address the problem.

In a statement, Siddaramaiah stated that unemployment among graduated females is around 40 per cent, while it is around 40 per cent among graduated males. Informing the State Government that the rise in unemployment is concerning, he said that approximately 3,000 applicants are waiting for a position that has been invited. Siddaramaiah wanted Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to take appropriate steps to address the issue of youth unemployment in the State.

Regarding the teacher appointment scam, Siddaramaiah stated that seven people in custody for their alleged involvement in the scam were appointed during the tenure of the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa in 2019, and BJP leader Suresh Kumar was the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education at the time.

The other people accused of the scam were appointed to their positions while the coalition government was in power in the State, he said. Siddaramaiah wanted that the State Government take stringent action against the accused persons if charges for their involvement in fraudulent activities were proven. He provided details on the positions filled during various tenures.

The Congress leader said in the statement that he has provided details on teacher appointments with documents at a press conference here on September 23. He urged the State Government not to mislead the public about the teachers’ scam by spreading false information to news sources, and he asked the investigating agency to keep the public informed about the scam’s facts and figures.
