Bengaluru: The railways will likely launch three more Vande Bharat trains in south India, informed officials on Monday January 23.

Routes from Kacheguda in Telangana to Bengaluru in Karnataka and from Secunderabad in Telangana to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Pune in Maharashtra are being considered for the new services.

Karnataka and Telangana’s Assembly elections are likely to take place later this year, while Andhra Pradesh’s elections are expected to take place in 2024. The BJP has been focusing on its performance in southern states during the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2024 as part of its Mission South.

In November 2022, the railways launched the first Vande Bharat Express train for south India along the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysore route. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the fifth rake of Vande Bharat Express at the Krantiveera Sangolli Railway station in Bengaluru. Since its recent launch, the Secunderabad-Vizag Vande Bharat Express has been running with 100 per cent occupancy, informed officials.
