Bengaluru: Three transgenders have been selected in the Graduate Assistant Teachers recruitment process from among the 15,000 teachers who applied to work in government schools across the State and teach students in classes VI to VIII.
According to the authorities, over 10 transgenders had appeared for the written test. Among them, three have been selected.
Interestingly, even though the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) have 15,000 vacancies, only 13,363 cleared the written test. As many as 1,637 posts continue to remain vacant.
According to the authorities, 19 of the 34 engineering graduates who applied for teaching positions have been selected.
