In a heartwarming initiative to celebrate Children’s Day, the Bangalore Sports Lovers Association (BSLA) is organising a fundraising football tournament for teenagers to support the education of underprivileged children. The event aims to raise funds for the second-quarter school fees of 18 girl children belonging to families below the poverty line (BPL).
Sports for a cause
The tournament, titled “BSLA TeenzCup”, combines sporting spirit with social responsibility. All registration fees collected from participating teams will directly contribute to covering the educational expenses of the 18 BPL girl students.
The event reinforces BSLA’s long-standing commitment to both youth development in sports and women empowerment initiatives.
Vijayalakshmi K, a National Volleyball player, and Mrs. Greeshma Bernad, a National-level Powerlifter, will be present at the venue to encourage the participants. They will be joined by Abhaya Bravery Award-winning women and several other prominent personalities, who will cheer on the young footballers and spread the message of empowerment through sports.
Community collaboration
Adding momentum to the cause, Aarohan Socio Cultural Forum, a Bengaluru-based Durga Puja group, has extended support to BSLA’s women empowerment programme. The partnership reflects the growing collaboration between social organisations and community groups working towards inclusive welfare.
BSLA, a well-known sports promotion organisation in Bengaluru for over a decade, has been active in nurturing young sporting talent while engaging in various charitable initiatives. Now registered as a Section 8 company with 12A and 80G certifications, BSLA ensures that all contributions and registration fees made towards the event are eligible for tax exemptions—making participation both socially meaningful and financially beneficial.
