Bengaluru: A trial run on the Baiyyappanahalli-Whitefield section of Namma Metro Phase 2 extension is likely to begin on October 25.
A public notification regarding the test-charging of 33 kV cables along the metro viaduct between Whitefield and KR Puram was issued by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) last week. From October 15, the cable network will be tested.
The original completion date for the 15.5 km stretch was 2020, but officials blamed the pandemic for the delay. The BMRCL earlier this year set December 2022 as the date for its inauguration.
The 13-station stretch is seen as a crucial project since it links the city’s eastern IT corridor.
With an interchange station at KR Puram, the upcoming metro corridor to the airport (Phase 2A and 2B) will further improve connectivity in eastern Bengaluru.
