Bengaluru: A Bengaluru woman filed a police complaint stating that a man she met online and became friends with defrauded her of Rs. 36 lakh.

Yamini Arani, a TC Palya resident has been identified as the victim.

Yamini reportedly registered herself on a matrimonial site to find a suitable partner. A few days later, she got a call from a man who said he was interested in her profile and that he would like to get married to her.

Then he declared that he must have money immediately since he needs to travel to California for work. He promised that he would return the money after he reaches California.

Over the next few days, large sums of money were taken from her on various false pretexts. She claims that she gave him around Rs. 36 lakh.

After realising she had been duped, she went to the police station and filed a complaint.
