Police have arrested two men from Tamil Nadu for allegedly stealing two-wheelers from different parts of Bengaluru and transporting them to their native place for sale.

The accused have been identified as Ranjith and Thangam Mutthu, residents of a village near Vellore in Tamil Nadu. Police said the duo was involved in multiple vehicle theft cases across Bengaluru.

The arrests were made during an investigation into the theft of a two-wheeler reported in Ramachandrapura in Srirampura area of north Bengaluru.

Police recover 10 stolen vehicles

During the investigation, police traced the suspects and recovered 10 stolen two-wheelers allegedly linked to the accused. Officials suspect the duo specifically targeted parked vehicles in residential and busy localities before moving them out of Karnataka.

Police sources said the accused would allegedly transport the stolen vehicles to Tamil Nadu and attempt to sell them at lower prices.

Investigation helped crack wider theft network

The breakthrough reportedly came after police intensified surveillance and examined local theft patterns connected to the Srirampura case. Authorities are now probing whether the accused are connected to a larger interstate vehicle theft racket.

Further investigation is underway to identify additional theft cases and possible buyers involved in the illegal sale of the vehicles.

Rise in vehicle theft concerns residents

The incident has once again raised concerns among Bengaluru residents over increasing two-wheeler thefts in the city. Police have urged vehicle owners to use additional safety locks and park in secure locations.

Authorities also advised citizens to immediately report suspicious activity involving abandoned or tampered vehicles.
