Bengaluru: Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot inaugurated park for specially-abled children in Jawahar Bal Bhavan (JBB), Cubbon Park built for specially-abled by Mindtree and Bal Bhavan Society.
Addressing the gathering on Saturday June 25, the Governor said, “It is a social and moral imperative to develop inclusive and accessible playgrounds for differently-abled citizens. Special children and their parents already struggle with numerous obstacles, biases and misconceptions in their effort to lead full and capable lives. Instead of adding to their problems, parks must become a part of the solution by enabling children with disabilities to gain from free and unstructured play just like other children. I congratulate Mindtree, Bal Bhavan and everyone associated with this inspiring initiative for taking the lead in addressing a vital need of special children, he observed.
Adding that this exclusive park would provide such children with an opportunity to feel happier, healthier and more connected with one another and the world around them, he hoped that it will also help in developing critical cognitive, emotional and social skills in them.”
Women & Child Development & Disabled and Senior Citizens Empowerment Minister Halappa Basappa Achar, Bal Bhavan Society President Chikkama Basavaraj, Department of Women and Child Development and Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Secretary Dr. M. T. Reju, Mindtree Ltd CEO & MD Mr. Debashis Chatterjee and other dignitaries were present.
