Bengaluru: According to sources, a 42-year-old woman was conned of Rs. 10 lakh by three people under the pretext of assisting her in the purchase of a used Audi A3 car in the City.
Rudresh, the woman’s son’s friend, is one of the accused, whom she claimed she had approached for help because he was in the business of dealing with used cars.
Rudresh arranged a meeting for her with someone who claimed to be a finance company manager-level employee. They showed the woman a second-hand Audi on September 2 and she agreed to buy it for Rs. 19 lakh.
On September 4, the woman made a Rs. 10 lakh payment for the car and asked for a Rs. 9 lakh loan. The three, however, did not return the money or deliver the car to the woman. She then lodged a police complaint with the Banaswadi Police Station.
