Bengaluru: A 50-year-old boxing coach has been booked on charges of allegedly sexually abusing a minor trainee and threatening her family in Bengaluru. Police said a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Sampangiramanagar police station under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Authorities stated that the case relates to allegations made by the family of a 17-year-old trainee. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter, while the identity of the minor has been withheld in accordance with legal provisions protecting child victims.

FIR details allegations against coach

According to police sources, the FIR was filed based on a complaint submitted by the girl’s mother. The complaint reportedly mentions incidents that allegedly took place between December 4, 2025 and May 22, 2026.

The complainant alleged that on May 17, during a boxing competition in Chennai, the coach allegedly called the trainee into his private room and behaved inappropriately with her.

Police stated that the complaint further alleged that the coach threatened the girl and warned her against disclosing the matter to anyone.

Investigators are expected to verify the details mentioned in the complaint and record statements from relevant individuals as part of the inquiry.

Allegations span several years

According to information included in the FIR, the teenager had been training in boxing for nearly 10 years.

The complaint stated that she allegedly began experiencing inappropriate conduct from the coach around four years ago and claimed that the situation had become more serious over the last five to six months.

Police officials have not publicly commented on specific details of the allegations as the matter involves a minor and falls under sensitive legal provisions.

Authorities generally maintain confidentiality in such cases to protect the privacy and interests of victims.

Investigation under way

Police said a case has been registered under the POCSO Act along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Officials said further investigation is under way and additional evidence, statements and other material linked to the allegations would be examined.
