Bengaluru: BSP state unit former president, Kollegal MLA N Mahesh resigned to the state cabinet. N Mahesh who was serving as the primary, secondary and library minister in the state submitted his resignation to Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Since last week BSP state circle was abuzz with the speculations that BSP supremo Mayawati has asked Mahesh to step down from the minister post. But CM HDK asked him to wait till he holds talks with Mayawati. On Thursday, the CM held a discussion with Mayawati and after the discussion, Mahesh tendered his resignation.

According to the sources, Mayawati is upset with the Congress party for its stand on the grand alliance in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other election-bound states.

“She is not interested in the continuation of the Karnataka government, which is the sole funding state for the Congress,” said sources.

However, if sources in the BJP are to be believed then the BSP likely to join hands with the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

“The BJP is generous. It assured of leaving Chamarajanagar constituency for the BSP in the event of the alliance. N Mahesh is likely to contest as a BJP supported BSP candidate from the constituency,” said a BJP leader.
