Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has collaborated with city officials to clear abandoned vehicles from roadsides and footpaths.
They will tow the vehicles to the Bingipura yard in South Bengaluru, where they will be dumped on Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike -owned land (BBMP).
City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant made the announcement in this regard at a meeting attended by engineers from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
“Abandoned vehicles parked everywhere, including those under the flyovers, destroy the city’s beauty and cause traffic congestion. These vehicles will be cleared soon,’ said Pant.
“After a joint survey by the BBMP and the police department, and after notifying the owners, the commissioner stated that they will clear the abandoned vehicles in accordance with the law. This will relieve the police department of its burden and serve as an model for other cities,” said Pant.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta urged officials to use the “silt and tractor” programme and the “Fix My Street” application to make visible changes in the City and address public grievances.
The BBMP had devised the “silt and tractor” scheme to expedite emergency cleaning efforts, with the goal of keeping each ward clean.
