The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a 31-year-old history-sheeter who had allegedly been absconding for seven years after a court issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.
The accused, identified as Syed Mansoor alias Mannu, is a habitual offender associated with the J.J. Nagar Police Station limits and is facing multiple criminal cases.
Seven criminal cases still pending
According to the police, Mansoor has been named in nine criminal cases. While he has been acquitted in two cases, seven cases remain pending before the courts.
Police said the accused failed to appear before the court despite the issuance of a non-bailable warrant and had been evading arrest for the past seven years.
Continued criminal activities alleged
Investigators alleged that Mansoor continued to engage in criminal activities while remaining on the run.
Based on a specific tip-off regarding his whereabouts, the Central Crime Branch launched a search operation and successfully traced and apprehended him.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the jurisdictional court for further legal proceedings.
Crackdown on absconding offenders
The arrest is part of the Bengaluru Police’s continued efforts to trace and apprehend habitual offenders and individuals evading court proceedings.
Officials said special teams have been intensifying operations against history-sheeters and accused persons with pending warrants to ensure they are brought before the courts and to strengthen law enforcement across the city.
Police have stated that further investigation into the pending cases against the accused will continue in accordance with the law.
