Agriculture Minister Shivashankara Reddy inspects NREGA progress

Chikaballapur: In order to inspect the drought-hit areas and the progress of NREGA, the District In-Charge Minister and Agriculture Minister Shivashankara Reddy visited Gudibande town, here on Saturday, December 1.

He informed the resident of Gudibande town that NREGA was implemented In order to prevent the employment crisis in the drought-hit areas for which people must take as an opportunity.

After his inspection, Shivashankara Reddy said that the district was badly affected due to the shortage in rainfall and in order to support the people at this juncture, the state and Centre had jointly implemented NREGA to facilitate various works.

He instructed the officials concerned to promote this scheme at the panchayat level and spread awareness on the same.

After having inspected the agricultural lands of farmers Srinivas and Girijamma in Somenahalli and Gummareddyhalli respectively where corn, toor Dal and Ragi were grown, he advised both to enroll for crop insurance in the next term of registration.

Deputy Commissioner Aniruddh Shravan, Zilla Panchayat CEO Gurudutt Hegde, Joint Agricultural Director Roopa and others were present.
