Chikkaballapura: A protest was held at the Taluk Office premises on the outskirts of the City demanding the development of the lake by the Myalya Kere Development Action Committee.

At the same time, Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha Taluk President N. R. Ravichandra Reddy said that due to heavy rains for the last two years, the inflow of Myalya lake has increased and the tank bund has deteriorated. It has breached twice and a huge amount of water has been wasted. It is the negligence of the Minor Irrigation Department officials. To prevent this, the people have been urging the lake should be maintained in a modern way and it should be developed from time to time. The road from Jagareddyhalli to Hunesanahalli has been damaged due to the rains and it should be repaired at the earliest, he noted.

He also said that the canals of the lake should be repaired and a pure drinking water plant should be set up in Dinne Hosahalli and Chittavalahalli Villages.

MLA N. H. Shivashankar Reddy, who arrived at the spot and received the memorandum of the agitators, said that Rs. 4.10 Crore has been sanctioned for the development of Myalya Lake and Rs. 3.40 Crore for the development of Jagareddyhalli to Hunisanahalli Road. The Government has given permission. And that all these demands will be fulfilled within two months,” he said.
