Chitradurga: The Chitradurga police on Sunday September 4 conducted a mahazar of the room where Murugha Sharna previously stayed in the Murugharajendra Matha. The pontiff has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing minor girls.
The investigating team took the seer to the matha in the police car and conducted the mahazar there for around two and a half hours. The routes leading to his room were also inspected. K. Parashuram, superintendent of Police, claimed that several items had been taken from the seer’s room. The investigation team did not consist of any forensic specialists. The seized objects may be sent to Forensic Science Laboratory.
Visitors were not permitted during the mahazar proceedings, and all of the mutt’s entrances were closed.
The investigation officer has received the statement that the girls recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC and the accused is presently being confronted based on the survivors’ testimony. The seer is being questioned at office of the deputy superintendent of police. A team of doctors is also camping on the premises. On Monday, the pontiff’s period in police custody will come to an end, and he will be brought before the court.
