Chitradurga: A complete change in the Transport Department is underway and steps have been taken for the purchase of eco-friendly electric buses, said Transport Minister B. Sriramulu. He added that by 2030, electric buses will be purchased.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the new bus unit near Taluk Stadium at Huliyar Road in Hiriyur of the District, he said that by the end of January, 50 electric, 600 diesel-powered, and 60 Volvo buses would be purchased.
The Central Government has allocated Rs. 250 Crore for road safety. A black spot will be identified to prevent road accidents across the State. Construction workers have been given free bus passes, he said.
