Closure of B’luru Govt schools: AAP ends hunger strike - 1 min read

AAP ends hunger strike

Bengaluru: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in south Bengaluru called off a 24-hour hunger strike on Saturday May 21, after the Education Minister promised to reopen three government schools in the Chickpet area.

The party claimed that the schools were closed so that land could be given to private real estate firms, and threatened to escalate its protests against the State Government if its demands were not met.

“After Education Minister @BCNagesh_bjpm promised to open the Govt schools and to provide quality education in Sunkenahalli, AAP Youth Wing’s hunger strike has successfully ended. Our fight for voiceless doesn’t end here!,” AAP Bengaluru tweeted.

Over 100 AAP workers, joined by local people, gathered at Bengaluru’s City Central Library protested against the State Government’s decision to close the boys’ school in Sunkenahalli, carrying banners and raising slogans.
