Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday visited rain-affected Kurubarahalli and other areas in the city to console the kith and kin of those washed away in rain water.
“I am pained by loss of lives due to heavy rain in the city. The deaths should not have happened. I sympathise with the families of those deceased people,’’ the chief minister said.
He visited the family of priest Vasudeva Bhat and consoled his family members. He has announced a government job for Bhat’s wife and free education for their children.
“No political party should politicise the deaths due to heavy rain in the city. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are making false and baseless allegations against us,’’ he said.
He attributed heavy rain as the reason for all problems including unfortunate loss of lives.
“The civic body could not clear the silt from storm water drains due to incessant rains in the city. I am saddened to hear the news of unfortunate deaths on Friday night,’’ he said.
