Coastal region to receive monsoon, IMD issues yellow alert

Mangaluru: Owing to the north-east monsoon rains, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “Yellow alert” for the coast for the next two days, predicting heavy rain.

Parts of Dakshina Kannada had moderate rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, while parts of the Udupi region were cloudy. Many parts of Dakshina Kannada, including Dharmasthala, Guruvayanakere, Neria, Belthangady, Ujire, Gandibagilu, and Mangaluru, saw rain and lightning on Monday night. Aladangadi, Naravi, and other portions of Bantwal received showers on Tuesday.

According to sources, the lightning strike in Yekkaru village damaged three houses. Tukaram Shetty’s house in Thenka Yekkaru village was struck by lightning. As a result, the house’s walls developed cracks, and the electrical wiring and electronic equipment were burnt. The lightning also caused damage to two nearby houses.
