Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday February 16 slammed Congress leaders for their conduct in the Assembly, saying the party had failed to perform its duties as a responsible opposition.
He further claimed that the party had violated the flag code by flying the national flag during the Assembly protest over Minister K. S. Eshwarappa’s statements.
Speaking to mediapersons he said the national flag code defines how it should be used and that it should never be misused. “However, Congress legislators have abused the national flag for political motives. Due to the behaviour of its leaders, the party has been marginalised across the country. People are watching them and the party, which prides itself on having 100-year history, will lose even more ground in the coming days,” the CM said.
CM Bommai supported Eshwarappa’s statement, saying it was not unlawful. “The Congress is trying to mislead the people of the State and the House by using certain parts of his statement,” he added.
