Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah joined Congress after holding a series of AHINDA rallies for minorities, backward classes, and Dalits rallies across the State. These rallies helped the party to polarise these communities in favour of the party and return to power in the 2013 general election.

Now, the party is trying to repeat the same success formula before going to the 2023 State Assembly election. With Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar consolidating the Vokkaliga votes, now the party is trying to further strengthen its position by roping in these communities which are the traditional support base of the party.

Former Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Dr. H. C. Mahadevappa, a close confidant of Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that these AHINDA conventions will be organised against the BJP.

“A Dalit youth was murdered in Belthangady by a Bajrang Dal leader’s relative. The OBCs and Dalits are misused by the BJP. To create awareness among the people from these communities, these conventions are planned,” he added.
