Rainfall is set to persist across Bengaluru and other regions in Karnataka for the next three days due to Cyclone Fengal’s remnants, according to the IMD. Bengaluru has experienced consistent showers since Sunday, with Coastal and South Interior Karnataka bracing for more rain until Wednesday.
Bengaluru Weather Outlook
- December 3: Overcast skies with moderate showers; temperatures range from 19°C to 23°C.
- December 4-5: Cloudy with light rain; temperatures between 18°C and 24°C.
- December 6-8: Partly cloudy skies, dry weather; temperatures rise slightly to 25°C.
Cyclone Fengal’s Impact
After intensifying in the Bay of Bengal, Cyclone Fengal weakened into a depression over Tamil Nadu’s northern coast on Monday. It has since transformed into a low-pressure system expected to move toward the southeast Arabian Sea, influencing Karnataka’s weather until December 3.
An orange alert has been issued for Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, and Chikkaballapura, anticipating heavy rain (11–20 cm). Kodagu, Mysuru, and Ramanagara are also forecasted to receive intense downpours, while Bengaluru and nearby districts will see moderate rain.
Precautionary Measures
Schools and colleges in Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar districts were closed on December 2. Fishermen along Karnataka’s southern coast are cautioned against venturing into the sea on December 2-3 due to rough conditions, with wind speeds reaching 55 km/h.
