Bengaluru: Road has been cleared for the entry of independent MLA from Hosakote Sharat Bachchegowda to Congress.
Earlier, local Congress leaders had opposed his entry into the party.
Sharat, who was in BJP, contested as an independent candidate in 2019 Hosakote assembly by election and defeated turncoat BJP leader MTB Nagaraj.
His father Bachchegowda is an MP from Chikkaballapura.
Later, even though he tried to join the BJP, CM BS Yediyurappa opposed it. Now, he is all set to join the Congress.
In a meeting chaired by Bengaluru Rural Congress District Committee president Munishamanna, all the local Congress leaders approved the proposal of inducting Sharat into the party folds.
“A report will be submitted to the KPCC in this regard soon,” said Munshamanna. Meeting was held in Hosakote.
