Bengaluru: Stating that a suicide attempt by the CM’s political secretary is not a small issue, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar demanded that an investigation be conducted into the incident.
It can be recalled that the political secretary to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, N R Santosh allegedly attempted suicide on Friday, November 27 evening, after which he was hospitalised.
On Saturday, DKShi claimed that he had received information that Santosh had distributed a confidential video to an MLC and a minister. “The video was later given to the BJP’s high command,” he said.
He then alleged that the video was being used by the MLC and minister to blackmail the Chief Minister and the leaders in government. “This has been going on for the last few months. The CM’s political secretary allegedly attempting suicide is not a small issue,” he said and added that the matter needs to be thoroughly probed.
According to a staffer at the Chief Minister’s Officer, 32-year-old Santosh, a resident of Bengaluru’s Dollar’s Colony swallowed about a dozen sleeping pills with an intention of committing suicide.
“The suicide attempt must not be investigated by the (state) governemnt,” Shivakumar said.
Presently, Santosh is out of danger and is all likely to be shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the general ward by this evening. He was admitted to the Ramaiah Memorial Hospital in Bengaluru.
CM BSY paid a visit to him in the hospital and enquired about his health, according to Santosh’s family members. Yediyurappa stated that he would speak to Santosh and his family members once he is better.
