Bengaluru: On Wednesday December 8, Karnataka Congress President, D. K. Shivakumar, has said that the government is creating unnecessary scare over the Omicron variant of Covid – 19, accusing it of derailing the State’s economy.
Speaking to mediapersons he said, “Where is Omicron? How many cases are there? There’s an unnecessary scare being spread just because someone ran away from the airport.”
He also urged the government of Basavaraj Bommai to proceed cautiously when considering new curbs. He said that Bengaluru is home to IT companies, hotels, and number of other businesses. Almost all of them function under air-conditioned environment. “Should they shut shop? What does it mean that persons must show certifications before entering? Why aren’t there similar regulations in other parts of the country? Why is it limited to Karnataka? The Administration is putting the economy at risk,” he stated.
