Don’t fear, I’m here: MLA Vedavyas to 35 M’luru youth stranded in Kuwait

Mangaluru: Close on the heels of a bunch of young men circulating a video, talking about their ordeal in oil-rich Kuwait, seeking his help, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath posted a video assuring support to them.

In an undated video, filmed in an unidentified location, the youth are seen speaking about how they landed in Kuwait about five months ago and are now left in the lurch.

The youth are seen alleging that 35 of them came to Kuwait in search of jobs through Manikya Association in Mangaluru, after paying the company Rs 65,000 each as brokerage, in January and over the last five months the company that they are working for has not paid them any money.

“Our hope is Vedavyas Kamath. Please help us sir,” the youth are seen pleading in the two-minute-long video.

The youth also talk about how the holy month of Ramzan is around and how they are being treated.

MLA responds

The MLA, who took note of the issue has said that he will leave no stone unturned to get the boys back to India.

“The video has reached me and I am following up with almost everybody and will try my level best in getting the BOYS back. I have spoken to concerned authorities, and will even take this matter to utmost personal (sic),” he posted on his FB page along with the video of the assurance.

He said that his friend Raj Bhandary, who resides in Kuwait has promised help and that he will take the issue up at the Indian embassy and other authorities concerned and make sure they return home safe.

He has also urged the NRIs to help the youth in all possible ways.
