Bengaluru: Residents of Mico Layout in southeast Bengaluru were left shocked after two unidentified men allegedly vandalised flower pots placed outside homes and created a public nuisance in the neighbourhood late on Thursday night. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera, providing clear footage of the alleged vandalism.
The incident reportedly took place at around 10.20 p.m., when the two men entered a residential lane, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
CCTV captures late-night vandalism
According to CCTV footage, the duo walked through the street with unsteady steps while shouting abuses, disturbing the otherwise peaceful neighbourhood. One of the men allegedly targeted flower pots placed outside several houses, which residents often use to mark or reserve parking spaces.
The footage shows him picking up some of the pots and smashing them onto the road. After walking a short distance, he returned to kick the remaining pots across the street before throwing another pot into the middle of the road. The incident left broken pots, scattered soil and debris strewn across the lane.
Residents expressed anger over the incident, saying such acts of vandalism have disturbed the sense of security in the locality.
Police to identify accused
Police said no formal complaint had been received from residents at the time of reporting. However, officers said they would reach out to the affected homeowners and encourage them to file a complaint so that legal action could be initiated.
A senior officer from the Mico Layout Police Station said the police would also examine CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify and trace the two suspects.
An investigation is expected to begin once a complaint is registered, with police relying on surveillance footage to track down those responsible.
