A shocking case of domestic violence culminating in murder has come to light in the city, where a man allegedly killed his wife following a late-night argument before fleeing the scene.

Argument turns fatal

The accused, identified as Nagaraj, is alleged to have murdered his wife Gowramma (45) by slitting her throat during a heated quarrel at their residence. The couple, originally from Jagalur taluk in Davanagere district, had moved to Bengaluru in search of better livelihood opportunities.

According to preliminary police investigations, Nagaraj worked as a security guard, while Gowramma was employed as a domestic worker in nearby homes. Their combined earnings supported the family, including their three children, who are now working in the catering sector.

Pattern of domestic disputes

Residents and investigators revealed that Nagaraj was known to frequently return home in an inebriated state and engage in arguments with his wife. Such disputes had reportedly become a routine occurrence in the household.

On Sunday night, the situation escalated beyond control. Nagaraj allegedly came home drunk and picked another argument, which soon turned violent. In a fit of rage, he is believed to have attacked Gowramma and slit her throat, killing her on the spot.

Neighbourhood in shock

The brutal nature of the crime left neighbours horrified. Gowramma was found lying in a pool of blood, triggering panic and anger among residents in the locality.

Soon after the incident, Nagaraj fled the scene, leaving behind the victim.

Police launch manhunt

Police from the Mico Layout Police Station have registered a case of murder and initiated a search operation to trace the accused, who remains absconding. Officials stated that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him at the earliest.

The incident has once again raised concerns over domestic violence and alcohol-related abuse within households, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and intervention mechanisms.
