Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) decided to issue a show-cause notice to over 40 schools in the city for not teaching Kannada as either the first or second language.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting between the Karnataka Develop Authority (KDA) Chairperson TS Nagabharana and Education Minister S Suresh Kumar.
In the meeting, it was decided to issue a show-cause notice to all the schools which were found guilty of not teaching Kannada. If they fail to adhere to the rules, it has been decided to cancel their registration with the education department.
In the meeting, it was also decided to write to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan to follow the state rules in all the Kendriya Vidyalayas of the state.
Members of the Kannada Development Authority and senior officials of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) were present at the meeting.
