Bengaluru: Former KAS Officer K. Mathai said on Tuesday May 17 that the State Government had appointed K. S. Somashekhar as Personal Secretary to Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Chairman S. R. Vishwanath and was paying him more than Rs. 2 lakh per month.

Mathai, who is now associated with the Aam Aadmi Party, said that a non-KAS Officer had been appointed to a KAS junior post.

“Despite the fact that the salary range for this post is between Rs. 50,000 and Rs.60,000 per month, Somashekhar is paid a whopping Rs. 3,12,002 lakh. Even the BDA commissioner does not get paid this much,” he said.

Mathai further asked what is the reason of paying the Personal Secretary such a large salary when the BDA has been under loss for years?

He also claimed that Vishwanath and the BDA Commissioner influenced’ Somashekhar’s appointment.

Vishwanath, on the other hand, denied the charges, claiming that his Personal Secretary’s wage was set by the government. ” Somashekhar is a Rajya Sabha joint secretary who is on a deputation here. So, he is getting paid the same as he was as Joint Secretary of the Rajya Sabha,” informed Vishwanath.
