Bengaluru: The Jnanabharathi police have arrested six men and recovered three kilograms of marijuana from them.
The police said the prime accused, Kiran B., 29, posed as a journalist from a local TV channel. Along with his associates, he would sell the illegal substance to college students and employees of private firms, a senior police officer said.
Based on a tip-off, a police team cornered them on Ullal Main Road while they were peddling the drugs. The police have identified the other accused as Hemanth N., 24, Mahadeva, 23, Rohan Poojar, 21, Sharath, 22, and Padmanabha, 23. The police have taken the accused into custody and are trying to find out the source of their drugs.
In another incident, the Central Crime Branch sleuths on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old foreigner and recovered five grams of cocaine from him. The accused, Kenneth Nwabhunwane, was arrested outside a supermarket in K.R. Puram while he was waiting for his clients to deliver cocaine worth Rs. 30,000. The police have seized a mobile phone from the accused to probe his network.
