Bengaluru: Five members of a family from Bengaluru died in a road accident in Metikurke village of Hiriyur taluk in Chitradurga after the tyre of the SUV in which they were travelling blasted and the vehicle hit a truck. A person sustained severe injuries and has been rushed to the Chitradurga hospital for the treatment.
According to the Hiriyur rural police, the deceased are Thayamma (60), Latha (26), Varnika (9), Jhanavi (3), and Sushmitha (23). All are the residents of Jambusavari Dinne in Bengaluru.
According to the police, the family of Tayamma was returning from Bhadravati to Bengaluru after attending a car festival. In Metikurke, the tyre of the SUV in which they were travelling blasted and the driver lost his control on the vehicle. “The SUV jumped off the road and hit a truck. All the five died on the spot,” said police.
