Bengaluru: The former Chief Secretary of Karnataka, B K Bhattacharya, passed away on Saturday (November 18), as confirmed by family sources. The 83-year-old retired IAS officer had been admitted to Manipal Hospital on Friday morning after experiencing breathlessness two days prior.
He passed away at the hospital later that evening. Bhattacharya is survived by his wife, Teresa Bhattacharya, and two children. Born on December 5, 1940, he retired as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka on December 30, 2000. The IAS Officers’ Association members have expressed their condolences over Bhattacharya’s demise.
