Bengaluru: Former social welfare minister H A Anjaneya, who represented the Holalkere constituency in the Chitradurga district between 2013 and 2018, is in the soup over the poor implementation of the Ganga Kalyana scheme. It has been alleged that the social welfare department sanctioned 1,800 borewells to his constituency in a single year and many of them are still on paper.
According to the sources, the Ambedkar Abhivruddi Nigama implemented this borewell scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 36 crores. The allegation is that the work orders were issued to borewell companies without floating tenders and most of the borewells are still on paper even though the money has been released.
“I have sought the government’s reply on this. I may get a reply in the ongoing Assembly session,” informed Holalkere MLA M Chandrappa.
