Bengaluru: Four people were arrested for cheating people by promising cheap land and running a money-doubling racket, informed police.

Nataraju (50), Rakesh (29), Balaji (41), and G. Venkatesh (50) posed to be journalists and members of a human rights organisation to cheat people. They had also obtained fake ID cards, informed police.

According to sources, J. Sangeetha, a businesswoman from Andhra Pradesh, was lured to the City by the gang’s offer to sell a real estate property for Rs. 10 lakhs. On October 25, 2021, the woman and her driver travelled to Bengaluru to finalise the transaction.

According to police, the accused led the driver to a isolated location and robbed him. They took the money he had brought with him to pay for the site. The woman later reported the incident to the police.
