Train services on Namma Metro’s Yellow Line were briefly disrupted on Wednesday morning (November 12, 2025) following a technical snag in one of the trains, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said. This marks the fourth such incident on the Yellow Line since its inauguration.
According to officials, the glitch caused delays in operations during the peak morning rush, inconveniencing hundreds of commuters. BMRCL said the issue was resolved promptly, with normal services restored by 8:47 a.m.
“All trains on the Yellow Line are now in service and will be running as per the timetable,” the BMRCL said in a statement.
Signalling fault caused disruption
A senior BMRCL official confirmed that the snag was traced to a fault in the signalling system, which temporarily affected train movement. “Our technical teams acted swiftly to identify and rectify the issue, ensuring services were restored at the earliest,” the official said.
Commuters express concern
Several passengers reported being stranded for nearly 15 minutes between stations during the disruption.
“I was on my way to work in Electronics City when the train suddenly stopped between stations,” said Aparna R., a regular commuter from BTM Layout. “There were no immediate announcements, and many passengers were anxious. Since such snags are becoming routine, BMRCL should be more transparent and ensure smoother operations.”
Fourth glitch since inauguration
The Yellow Line, which connects R.V. Road to Bommasandra, spans 18.82 km and caters to thousands of daily commuters.
Since its commercial launch on August 11, a day after its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the corridor has faced four technical interruptions — on September 22, October 12, October 16, and now November 12.
Responding to growing commuter concerns, a BMRCL official reiterated that these were minor technical faults and “not serious” in nature.
Future plans
The Yellow Line plays a critical role in connecting the city’s southern and industrial zones, including Electronics City. Meanwhile, BMRCL is preparing to float tenders for Phase 3 civil works, aimed at expanding Bengaluru’s metro network to ease traffic congestion across major corridors
