Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw that the damaged stretch of Hosur Road in Hebbagodi, Bengaluru, will be restored to good condition by the end of April 2026.

The assurance came after Mazumdar-Shaw publicly raised concerns over the poor state of the highway earlier this month.

Kiran Shaw flags road issues

Taking to X, the Biocon chairperson criticised the condition of Hosur Road on NH-44, calling it badly designed and poorly maintained.

She also pointed to repeated complaints that had allegedly gone unresolved, highlighting the daily difficulties faced by commuters using the stretch.

Gadkari promises action

Following the concerns, Mazumdar-Shaw met Gadkari, who reportedly expressed displeasure over the road’s condition and promised corrective measures at the earliest.

She later shared that the minister had assured the road would be brought back into proper condition before the month ends.

Hebbagodi congestion also raised

Mazumdar-Shaw also highlighted regular traffic bottlenecks near the Biocon Hebbagodi Metro station, where thousands of commuters travel daily.

The area has become a key industrial and employment hub, making smoother connectivity critical for workers and residents.

Employees shift to public transport

More than 1,000 Biocon employees have reportedly moved from private vehicles to public transport through a corporate mobility initiative.

The programme, called STAMP, was developed by WRI India in collaboration with Toyota Mobility Foundation.

A dedicated app helps staff plan journeys using metro, buses and feeder services.

Call for wider participation

Maheshwar Rao has urged more companies to adopt similar mobility programmes to reduce congestion and improve Bengaluru’s liveability.
