Bengaluru: JD (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday February 5 has said that the BJP government, which has called for “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” at the Centre, is hindering the education of girls in Karnataka by dragging on the Hijab controversy unnecessarily. At a time when Covid had hindered students’ education, the government is creating unnecessary controversy rather than aiding them in their studies, he added.

Kumaraswamy has urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to take control of the situation and resolve the matter as soon as possible. From Beti Bachao to Beti Padhao, this has turned out to be Beti Hatao, he said. He further said that if the government truly cares about peace and harmony, the issue should be dropped here.

Kumaraswamy further criticised Congress for its hypocrisy. When it comes to the Mahadayi issue, Congress has issued a manifesto indicating that they will stand in solidarity with Goa. In Karnataka, the same Congress leaders have promised to fight for Mahadayi for Karnataka. He described it as “pure hypocrisy.”
