Govt failed to meet wages & other demands in budget, says Pourakarmika Org

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Pourakarmika Sangha welcomed Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s announcement of a hardship allowance of Rs. 2,000 per month for Pourakarmikas in his first budget. However, they brought to light other issues that is yet to be addressed.

The Pourakarmika Sangha and other workers’ organisations had been protesting for nearly two years before the announcement.

The association criticised the budget for failing to meet their other demands, including the introduction of a pension, accident compensation, and compensation for families in the event of a health crisis, such as the Covid – 19 deaths. They had also requested a raise in their minimum wage
