Bengaluru: The URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) of websites associated with several State Government departments will soon be in Kannada along with the present English links.
The initiative is part of the Kannada Development Authority’s (KDA) e-Kannada portal project, which will be launched on Tuesday May 17 by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. According to sources, the official email IDs of the CM, ministers and other officials will have Kannada letters.
In total, 86 Kannada dictionaries will be uploaded, including one prepared by Agriculture University, music and dance experts, and others. Over 6 lakh words have been uploaded so far, with a total of 90 lakh words expected to be uploaded in phases.
A mobile app for the portal is also available. One can get translations from Kannada to English, English to Kannada, speech to text and text to speech, as well as other services.
