Bengaluru: Following the Centre’s decision to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Sunday May 22 that his government will consider further fuel tax reductions.
He also expressed confidence in attracting more investments into the State ahead of his visit to the Swiss ski resort town of Davos for the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting. “The decision (from the Centre) came on Saturday night, let’s see, we will consider it,” Bommai said in response to a question on whether the State government will decrease petrol and diesel prices further after the Centre’s decision.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that an excise duty cut of Rs. 8 per litre on petrol and Rs. 6 per litre on diesel on Saturday, to avoide a fuel price hike that had become necessary due to the rise in international oil prices.
