Gurgaon House Hunt Goes Viral Over ‘Relationship Status’ Debate

A Bengaluru woman faced an unexpected hurdle while searching for a house in Gurgaon, after a prospective flatmate rejected her for being in a committed relationship. The incident unfolded on a Facebook group, Flat and Flatmates (Gurgaon), and went viral after Shivangi Shah shared screenshots of the bizarre exchange on X (formerly Twitter).

“House hunting in Gurgaon is wild,” Shah wrote alongside the screenshots. In the conversation, the renter initially asked Shah if she had “a date,” which Shah misunderstood as her potential moving date. Clarifying, the renter asked if Shah had a boyfriend. Upon learning that Shah was in a serious relationship, the renter revealed her preference for housemates who embraced casual relationships.

The peculiar demand sparked amusement and confusion online. “I don’t understand—does she want to hook up with you or your boyfriend?” joked one user. Another quipped, “Good thing she didn’t propose orgies.”

This odd interaction sheds light on the unpredictable challenges of house hunting in urban areas. It also highlights the occasionally bizarre intersection of personal preferences and living arrangements.

The story drew comparisons to a previous viral post, where Gurgaon-based influencer Shakul Gupta humorously offered himself as a “boyfriend on rent” during Valentine’s Day to combat loneliness, emphasizing emotional support over romance.

Social media remains abuzz, turning Shah’s unusual experience into a mix of humor, commentary, and shared disbelief.
