Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka on Friday kept in abeyance till December 14 its interim order of directing investigations against the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu district, Richard Vincent D’souza.
Justice Vineet Kothari stayed the operation of his November 23 order for registration of a first information report (FIR) and direction to the State Chief Secretary to initiate disciplinary inquiry against the DC after D’souza on Friday personally appeared before the court and admitted certain omissions on his part while exercising his quasi-judicial functions.
The DC also apologised for the mistakes which he had committed in adjudicating the case related to a dispute over entries made in land records of members of a family in Virajpet, while claiming that the mistakes were bona fide ones.
He also admitted to his lapse in not issuing notice or hearing the opposite party before passing the second order. Following this, the court orally observed how a senior IAS officer can commit such mistakes.
