Bengaluru: Following an influx of complaints that the BBMP health department has failed to find a solution to the growing health challenges in the city, the state health department has formed an Urban Health Improvement Taskforce to tackle the issues.

The task force has been asked to submit a detailed report on improving the health infrastructure in the city.

According to sources in the department, the new health minister will announce the details regarding the task force. “The task force has been formed because the BBMP failed miserably to contain the spread of dengue and other diseases in the city. The health infrastructure is also crumbling. To suggest ways to improve the health facilities and to suggest strategies to be followed, the task force has been formed,” explained an officer.

“Compared to Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and other cities are performing well in the health index. The task force will visit all these cities and collect the relevant data,” he said.
