Bengaluru: The religious leaders of different communities requested students not to be adamant on wearing shawls and Hijabs. Honour the interim order issued by the Karnataka High Court, they urged.

Seers Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana of Murugha Matha, Chitradurga, Sri Shantaveera Swamiji of Kuntichiga Maha Samsthana, Sri Basavamurthy Madara Chennaiah Swamiji of Madara Chennaiah Peetha, Maulana Maqsood Imran Saheb of Jamia Masjid, Bengaluru and Maulana Sulaiman Khan of All India Mili Council were present.

The leaders appealed to the students to attend schools and colleges to gain education and be focused on the same without any distraction.

Addressing mediapersons, Sulaiman Khan said, “The religion should be followed at home, and outside of it we should be normal citizens. It is not right to.say that Hijab is more important than education,” he said.

Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana said, “In critical situation such as this, everyone should aim to maintain social harmony. Abide by the court verdict, and let the peace prevail, he added.
