Bengaluru : The Swedish home furnishings retailer Ikea announced in a statement on Tuesday that it will expand its footprint in India by providing doorstep delivery services to 62 additional districts in Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. In addition to its two city stores in Mumbai, it will serve the towns and cities in the districts that are near its three current large-format stores in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Navi Mumbai.
“We need to make Ikea more convenient, genuinely omnichannel, and easily accessible for our customers in order to further penetrate these markets. In order to meet the demand from online channels, we will make use of the distribution capabilities of our current physical stores in these states, stated Susanne Pulverer, CEO of Ikea India.
“We are excited to deliver the Ikea experience to our many customers in India, as these growing cities are important hubs for the growth of online retail,” she continued. The company added that by expanding, this will boost the supply chain’s capacity to use alternative fuels. At the moment, electric vehicles account for 72% of Ikea’s deliveries.
