Bengaluru: The Bellandur police have arrested two men and registered an FIR against five people, including an earthmover owner, a site engineer, a site in-charge and a developer, for allegedly illegally storing and using explosives at a construction site and threatening a contractor who refused to participate in the activity.
The arrested accused have been identified as Arun Kumar, a safety supervisor, and Jaghan, the site in-charge. Police have also booked Prabhakar, the site engineer, the owner of Adharsha Developers, and another contractor. An investigation into the case is underway.
Contractor alleges pressure to use explosives
According to police, the case was registered based on a complaint filed by authorised earthwork contractor Satish Naik. He stated that he was engaged by Srinivasa Earth Movers, owned by Kumar, to carry out excavation work at a construction site in Bhoganahalli in December 2025.
During the excavation, large boulders were encountered. Naik alleged that the accused pressured him to use explosives illegally to clear the rocks. When he refused, he was allegedly denied entry to the site, withheld payment for the work already completed, and threatened with serious consequences.
Illegal storage of explosives under investigation
Naik further alleged that the accused had been illegally storing and using explosives at the site since March, posing a serious risk to workers and nearby residents during excavation operations.
Based on the complaint, Bellandur police registered an FIR and arrested the two prime accused. Officials said further investigations are in progress to establish the extent of the alleged violations and identify the role of each accused.
Notice issued to developer
Police have also issued a notice to Adharsha Developers seeking an explanation regarding the allegations as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities said appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe
