In 7 years just 25 dog-bite victim’s applied for BBMP relief

Bengaluru: The BBMP is paying compensation for the victim of dog bites besides bearing their medical treatment expenses. However, in the last seven years, just 25 victims applied for this relief scheme.

According to the documents, in these seven years, period 32,161 dog bite incidents were reported within the BBMP limits. In 2016, 7,905 people, the highest number of dog-bite incidents were reported, while in 2021 the lowest number of cases (1,526) were reported.

According to the data, in this period the BBMP spent Rs. 15,15,401 on providing relief and medical expenses for the dog-bite incidents.

Only stray dog bite incidents come under the BBMP relief scheme. The victims are entitled for compensation between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 10,000 for the stray dog bites. The veterinary section of the BBMP will disburse this relief amount. The victims should approach the
Department with all the documents to get the relief and medical expenses.
