Bengaluru: State energy minister D K Shivakumar is expected to face more problems in coming days beside possibility of an FIR by the Income Tax (IT) department with officers discovering huge volume of undisclosed property in his and his relatives’ names, which is not confirmed by the IT officials as of now. According to the reliable sources in the IT department, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to register an FIR against the energy minister either on Tuesday or on Wednesday.
On Monday, all the family members of the DK Shivakumar family were subjected to inquiry without the help of their accountants and it was a separate inquiry. “Family members gave evasive answers and it is not matching with the documents. Around 15 persons including office staff of DKS were subjected to inquiry,” sources said adding that the probe lasted for two hours. Based on the inquiry findings the IT department will take a decision whether to hand over the case to ED or close it with imposing hefty fine.
It can be recalled that IT department officers raided D K Shivakumar’s house and offices on August 2.
The IT attack was billed off as ‘politics of vengeance’ by many as several Gujarat MLAs were housed in a resort owned by DKS during a crucial turning point in Gujarat politics recently.
